大日本居合道八重垣会の歴史、
昭和6年(1931)、無双直伝英信流正統第二十代宗家、河野百錬先生を中心に、大阪の地に日本全国唯一無二、初めての居合道団体「居合術八重垣会」を創立されたのが、当会の発足です。
「八重垣会」の名称は、発足人会の中村貞次郎先生からの提案で、当流初伝正座の部5本目の技「八重垣」より、"語感の雰囲気あり”と、決まったとのことです。
それにより、当時会員数100数十名から戦前には300余名の記述があります。
其の後、当会世話人から最高顧問の河野百錬先生の提案で「大日本居合道八重垣」に改称されました。
初代会長 志賀 矩先生より、令和の現在八代目となり、発足より令和2年(2020)に90周年となります。

History of "Dai Nihon Iai-dou Yaegaki-kai"
In 1931, the association was founded as "Iai-jutsu Yaegaki-kai" in Osaka as the first "Iai-do" group in Japan led by the master "Kono Hyakuren", the 20th head family of "Musou Jikiden Hidenobu-ryu".
The name "Yaegaki-kai" was proposed by the master "Nakamura Teijiro", one of the starting members, and it was decided because the 5th skill "Yaegaki" of the "Shoden Shoza" of the current school sounded good.
There were about a hundred and several tens of members at that time and about three hundreds of members recorded before the World War II.
After that, the name was changed to "Dai Nihon Iai-do Yaegaki" based on a proposal from our caretaker to our top adviser, the master "Kono Hyakuren".
The current chairperson of the association is the master Mizuno, who is the 8th chairperson ( the 1st chairperson was the master Shiga). In 2020, we celebrate 90th anniversary since our establishment.
